Wolf Bay
Bridge-- At a meeting on July 10, FIGG Engineering
led discussion on the Wolf Bay Bridge. planned to be
elevated over the State Park. Tom Schlinkert
reported that the City of Orange Beach has said they
have no money available for the project, and a class
action lawsuit has been filed. It appears at the
moment that the Bridge is legally, financially and
politically problematic.
Coastal
Impact Assistance Program-- Patsy Parker reported on
her meeting with Julie Batchelor of the federally
funded CIAP.Their plan for Wastewater study has been
approved and a grant will be applied for.
Information concerning Wastewater is available from
the Univ. of South Ala. and Riviera Utilities.
Larry
Freeman announced that a permit for a 780 unit RV
Park had been denied. A large group of vocal
neighbors had registered opposition.
District
14 Zoning-- Dick Sute announced that there were 214
signatures on the petition with not all subdistricts
reporting and they expect to obtain the 500
necessary signtures soon.
County
Commission Election--Daniel Dyas, Friends of Baldwin
member, announced he is running for Place 2 on a
platform of Smart Growth, Fiscal Responsibility, and
Young, Conservative Leadership.
Cal
Markert, County Engineer, presented a program
showing the proposed route of the connector between
the Foley Beach Express and I-10, which is to aid
hurricane evacuation and alleviate traffic on Hwy
59. Tom Schlinkert, Infrastructure Chairman of
Friends of Baldwin, announced that the route
appeared to be a good one for wetalnds and drainage
and that Friends of
Baldwin would support the proposed route.
