A short report on Meeting held Aug. 11
 
     Doug Holton introduced Mayor Koniars of Foley who spoke about his commitment to zoning in District 18.The County Commission is looking this week at whether to delete the necessity for 10% of the population of the District to sign a petition.The vote to create zoning in the District failed by 8 votes the last time.
     Casi Callaway introduced Adam Snyder who told us about his work as Director of Conservation Alabama, a statewide political action group. He said the only way to get things done is to be politically active .We don't need to be the majority, only a vocal minority to be effective. There are several ways we can work together, including an E-mail Action Alert.
     Dick Sute, Chairman of Infrastructure, reported his committee is looking at several issues involving highways There is an effort to build an I-10_ I-65 connector across the northeastern section of the county. Casi announced that Mobile Baykeeper is strongly opposed to this.Tom Schlinkert has met with a number of people to try to get information about a road proposed by Goldman Sachs and the Figg Co.involving the proposed bridge which would give them the right to condemn along the route. The Committee will give a report on this issue at the next meeting and hopefully make recommendations about a course of action.
     Doug Holton, Zoning Committee Chairman, reported about the effort to zone in District 18 ( Foley), and reported that Coms. Gruber and Gruenloh are in favor and Com. Bishop needs to be contacted. More to follow. His Committee is to meet with Bradley Byrne on Aug. 29, for information about Legislature policies.
     Stan Mahoney, Chairman of Stormwater, has met with David Yeager. He hopes that John Peterson of his committee can give an update at the next meeting about his efforts concerning D'Olive Bay run-off.
     The next meeting will be on Mon., Sept. 8 at Mama Lou's at noon.
