October 13th Meeting Report

Friends of Baldwin met on Mon., Oct. 13 in Robertsdale. There was a small attendance but good discussion.
Congratulations were offered to Patsy Parker as the Perdido Beach Property Owners' Ass'n. has submitted their petition to the Probate Judge with over 70% of the property owners' names to begin the incorporation process and to Georgia Bankston for bringing District 18 to the brink of their vote on zoning on Oct. 28.

Town Hall meetings for the District 18 Zoning will be held as follows:
Mon., Oct. 20 at the Baldwin Co Central Annex in Robertsdale from 6 to 8 p.m.
Wed., Oct. 22 at the Baldwin Co. EMC in Summerdale from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mon., Oct. 27 in the Foley City Council Chambers from 6 to 8 p.m.

Everyone is encouraged to attend. Georgia obtained financial assistance from Conservation Alabama for the purchase of yard sign. She is arranging media coverage for one of the Town Hall Meetings.

Frank Burt is hoping the Legislature will insist on the 10% petition drive for zoning districts and will be discussing this at the Work session of the County Commission. Doug Holton said that Wayne Dyess is working on a classification for small communities called a Heritage District whereby the County would provide services but the citizens would have input into zoning.

An amendment on the ballot in the general election on Nov. 4 would remove the loophole involving the Baldwin Co. Sewer Service and members are encouraged to vote to pass this amendment .

Donna Jordan of the Mobile Baykeeper office announced that the Cahaba River Society has recently gone through a project involving Stormwater and Casi would like for them to address us when they are in town. The next meeting is tentatively set for Nov. 17 at noon at Mama Lou's in Robertsdale to take advantage of this opportunity.
