Friends of Baldwin meeting June 7, 2010 Sara Shields and Tom Herder of the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program presented an update of plans for the Stormwater Referendum to be on the ballot in Nov. One hundred projects necessary to stormwater retention have been identified and will be organized by watershed districts and prioritized equally across the county. The average cost to a homeowner with less than 10% of their property in impervious surface would be $2 per month. 80% of the funds generated must be spent for capital projects The 14 municipalities in the county have indicated support. The Education Com. is developing an advocacy campaign whose theme will be "Don't Run Off". Several members voiced concern that two of the County Commission Run-off candidates, Tucker Dorsey and Bob James, have close ties to Baldwin County Sewer Service. The next meeting will be delayed for a week until July 12, because of the closeness of the first Mon. to the fourth of July.
