Paulette Fedor announced that there would be a meeting on Wed., July 14 in Fairhope City Council Chambers addressing Oil Impact issues led by Roberta Swann of NEP.

Hallie Dixon, candidate for Baldwin Co. District Attorney, spoke to the group. As Asst. District Attorney, she was a major felony prosecutor. In working for the Ala. Attorney General, she prosecuted cases around the state involving child abuse, child exploitation, elderly abuse and internet fraud.. She stated that the District Attorney could not justify a full time person on the staff to prosecute environmental cases, that prosecutors and investigative staff should be trained to handle environmental abuses. When asked about the dumping of raw sewage in a holding pond in the Aspen Creek subdivision by the Baldwin Co. Sewer Service, she said sewer spills should be reported to the District Attorney. She said the District Attorney should interface with the state legislators to develop regulation for private sewer systems in the County.
